What are the requirements to join the Assistant Instructor Course?
The requirements to participate in the SSI Assistant Instructor course are:
- 18 years or older
- 60 or more logged dives (75 on completion)
- Be a Divemaster (or equivalent from another organisation)
How much time do I have to plan for the Assistant Instructor Course?
The Assistant Instructor Course is planned for 4 full days and may be extended to a 5th day.
What else can I do / teach in comparison to an SSI Divemaster?
In addition to the task of an SSI Divemaster you can:
- Teach, supervise and certify: Scuba Rangers, Try Scuba, Scuba Skills Update, Perfect Buoyancy
- Teach the Open Water Diver academic and confined water sessions, except emergency ascent skills, and under the indirect supervision of an Instructor.
- Supervise and evaluate surface skills during open water training dives for the Open Water Diver Course, while under indirect supervision of an Instructor.
- Become Specialty Instructor (only certain Specialties).
